Girls Brigade – 84th Glasgow

Church Youth Group

All girls and young women are welcome at Girls’ Brigarde no matter who they are, where they come from.  Our members come from diverse backgrounds and from all faiths or none but what is important is that each girl is unique and has the opportunity to learn, make new friend, try new challenges and grow into strong, confident young women during their GB experience.

Explorers – P1 to P3

Being an Explorer in GB is all about having fun, making new friends and exploring new concepts, ideas and activities.  Girls can join from the age of 5 or from the date they start primary school, if this is before their 5th birthday and will remain in this section until the end of P3.  Most explorers meet once a week for around an hour during school term times and are also given the opportunity to participate in special events and activities held outwith the normal meeting place and times.

Juniors – P4 to P7

Our Juniors section welcomes all girls in P4 to P7 who are looking to have lots of fun with friends, old and new while learning new skills, taking part in exciting activities, tackling new challenges and developing as young, confident individuals.

Juniors usually meet once a week for around 1 to 1.5 hours during school term times but are also often given the opportunity to attend day trips, local competitions, fun nights and residential holidays with other members of the GB family.

Brigaders – S1 – S6

The Brigaders section in GBS is open to all girls fromt he time they begin secondary education through to their 18th Birthday, regardeless of whether or not they choose to remain in the education system.  We recognise that this can be an exciting but challenging time in the lives of young women.

For this reason we offer Brigaders and opportunity for informal learning using bespoke programme material, while also providing a safe space to have fun, develop friendships, share concern with peers or leaders, together with opportunities to represent GBS at local and national events.

Brigaders can also elect to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh and Queen’s Awards and from the age of 16 can choose to begin their Leadership Training within GBS, which equips them with all the skills they require to become Adult Volunteers within the organisation.
