Thriving Places are looking for people to take part in a Befriending Pen Pal Project in the East End of Glasgow.
The project will connect school pupils to an older community member who is isolated and experiencing loneliness. All communication will go via Thriving Place so that no personal contact details are shared, and the communication can be done via post or by email, whichever is preferred! Our team can arrange to pick up reply letters in person for those who cannot get out to the post box.
All recipients will receive:
- A Welcome pack with lots of ideas about what to write
- Free return envelopes to post
The project offers young people an opportunity to volunteer online, to advance their CV and help combat social isolation amongst the older community in their area!
If you know an older person in your family, or community in the Parkhead, Dalmarnock or Barrowfield area who would love to receive regular letters from a local pen pal, please nominate them. We’d love to hear from anyone who would like to be involved!
