We work with all age groups, teaching a wide range of of dance styles. Taster sessions, holiday sessions and performance projects are all available.

Kids and Teen Classes

Dance Academy: Turn up and Dance

Want all the choice and fun of a fame-style dance academy without kicking a large hole in the family budget?  It's all here, a world of dance in little easy-to-learn chunks!  Learn how all dance forms grow from the same root. This class is full of energy and combines many dance styles from slinky contemporary ballet to sizzling styles and routines from top Broadway/West End Musicals.  You will balance and leap, lock and pop, rock, fall and recover in a creative environment.  A great way to hone and develop your own dance style. For kids and teens with little or no experience, loose clothing and soft shoes required.

Street Dance/Hip Hop: It's Funky Time...

Have you seen High School Musical and Step Up 2 and wished you could dance like that? This class makes you feel good and put you right up there in the cool zone. Street Dance teaches fast and energetic dance routines. For kids (8yrs+) with little or no experience. Our experienced teacher will ensure you there’s a warm up and cool down: its safety, style and substance combined. So come along and have a fun and funky time to the most amazing tunes around! Non-restrictive clothing, soft shoes, water and towel required. 

SINGING: Sing from the heart!

This class is designed for kids and teens interested in expanding their singing skills and confidence in a friendly and supportive atmosphere, you will have the opportunity to experiment with your vocal sounds.  Our experienced teacher's use songs from different vocal traditions and styles which are rich in harmony and rhythm to develop vocal skills and confidence.  Everyone is welcome to take part from the experienced, to the complete singers in-the-shower. 

Break dance

Come and learn the cool, fun art of break dance...
Ever fancied spinning on your back, top-rocking or learning how to freeze?  This class will suit all levels of experience.  Instructors Chris & Steven are full of energy and well equipped to teach their art to you - from the basic top dance to floor work to more advanced power moves, flips and tricks to match.  The class is good fun, hard work and will give your whole body a workout. For kids and teens with little or no experience, loose clothing and soft shoes required.

Cheerleading Dance

Cheerleading is not just about shaking your Pom-Poms...
This class is for those who have always wanted to learn the basic skills of cheer dance.  With professional instruction on arm motion techniques, proper pose, jumps and kicks and tumbling.  In this class you will need to be enthusiastic, and full of energy! For kids and teens with little or no experience, loose clothing and soft shoes required.

DRAMA (new)

You'll be glad to know that Visual Statement Drama classes are not full of the usual thespians. No. The drama classes for kids and teens are taught by professional teachers who love the simple joy of acting.

Whether you're doing drama for the first time, brushing up on your skills, or just want to have fun – this is the place you should be. Our class offer a pressure–free and non–competitive environment in which to learn, and provide an opportunity to develop self–confidence, powers of self–expression and creativity. Above all, the emphasis is on fun. For kids and teens with little or no experience.

Fred Astair & Ginger Rodgers took it to the Silver Screen, Now you can do it as well…

Learn the art of Tap dancing in a relaxed feel good atmosphere. This class is suitable for everyone who have never tapped before. It introduces all the basic steps along with technique for rhythum and close work will soon have you dancing like the silver screen legends of the past. You will need Tap shoes or hard soled shoes, water and towel required. Suitable for beginners/intermediate level.

ZUMBA

The Zumba® program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. Our goal is simple: We want you to want to work out, to love working out, to get hooked. Zumba® Fanatics achieve long-term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exciting hour of calorie-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life!

The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you've got a Zumba® class!

Street Dance/HIP-HOP

This class makes you feel and look good and puts you right up there in the cool zone. Hip and Street is funky and energetic. In this class you will learn how to shake your booty with attitude. Keep up-to-date with the latest and authentic hip hop moves which still leaves room for individuality. So come along and have a fun and funky time to the hottest tunes around! Singing

About Visual Statement

Visual Statement work offers the broadest range of performance art work in Glasgow East creating Visual Statement at the Bridge, Easterhouse.productions for main stage, studio theatre, touring and schools.

Visual Statement provides the highest quality of innovative education and participatory work to groups around Glasgow and the Country.

The Bridge

In 2006 Visual Statement undertook a major development and moved into the £9 million new state-of-the-art community leisure, arts and learning campus, 'the Bridge' the first of its kind in Scotland situated in the heart of Glasgow East.

The new facility consists of four integrated sections: Platform arts centre, a new relocated community library, refurbished swimming pool which together are joined to the recently completed replacement building of John Wheatley College, now Glasgow Kelvin College.

The Bridge also facilities the administrative offices of the National Theatre of Scotland. Visual Statement is the resident dance company based at the bridge with its own dedicated office space, costume design rooms, laundry room, scenery and prop making workshops and storage space. In addition there is access to high-tech rehearsal studio, recording studio and theatre. From this base, Visual Statement will continue to encourage active participation by local people in the arts.

Payment and booking

All our classes are pay-on-the-day which means you can just turn up and pay before each session. Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis and go on sale thirty minutes before the start of each class.
